Find Me Guilty

Vin Diesel plays a gangster who represents himself in a 22 month trial in New York City. At the beginning, the movie tells us that it is based on a true story, and that much of the film’s court room dialogue is actual transcripts. Vin Diesel proves that he is a versatile actor. Well worth […]

Adam Sandler plays Michael, a busy family man who somehow acquires a universal remote control that literally remote controls his universe. Michael is an unlikeable person but over the course of the movie learns important life lessons and becomes a changed man. Amazing performance by Christopher Walken as Morty, the inventor? of the universal remote. […]

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

A movie version of a pulp fiction detective novel. Robert Downey Jr., apparently sober now, plays the main character. Val Kilmer plays Gay Perry, a smart-ass private eye, and Michelle Monaghan plays the “dame”. Worth renting. It’s something different.

Happy Endings

Another one of those movies showing the inter-connectedness of everyone’s lives. Don’t bother with this. The best part of the movie is the poster.

Aquamarine

I’m almost too embarrassed to admit I watched this movie. Almost. I committed to detailing all the movies I watch, and the blog would mean nothing if I skipped some. Two best friends, (young best friends ~15) Claire and Hailey, discover a mermaid in their pool after a big storm. The mermaid promises them a […]

What was Jack Black thinking? You’ll leave the theatre shaking your head. “When you are a man, sometimes you wear stretchy pants in your room… It’s for fun.” Jack plays Nacho, a friar who is the cook in an orphanage. The orphanage can’t afford decent ingredients so Nacho turns to wrestling to earn money to […]

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift

The third installment in the series. The story is adequate, but nobody watches this movie for the story. It’s car porn, plain and simple. Rental.

Freedomland

Samuel L. Jackson plays a cop trying to find a child that was in the backseat of a carjacked car. Or so we’re led to believe. Lots of racial tension. I could have done without this movie.

16 Blocks

This one’s for the Coach. Bruce Willis plays a drunk, run-down cop who has worked the night shift and on his way home in the morning is asked to transport a prisoner to the courthouse, 16 blocks away. Things are never as simple as they seem. It turns out that the hostage is the key […]

Side Effects

The story of a young woman who inadvertantly becomes a pharmaceutical sales rep, learns the job, becomes disgusted with the job, and then only when she stops trying to sell drugs, becomes incredibly successful. The movie is part fiction, part documentary, part romantic comedy. Main character of Karly Hert is played by Katherine Heigl who […]

X-Men: The Last Stand

This is the third installment of the X-Men movie franchise. It is a decent action movie. The only complaint that I could of was that there was maybe a little too much action and not enough time spent with the individual characters. This movies assumes you’ve seen the first two and so know the history […]

The Ringer

Johnny Knoxville plays Steve, who decides to pretend to be mentally handicappedso he can fix the Special Olympics. It’s not as bad as it sounds. Quite the opposite, in fact. It’s a very well done movie, it doesn’t poke fun at the disabled at all. There is a good reason why he’s fixing the Special […]
