This movie was totally unnecessary.  It took what should have been a 2 minute prologue and turned it into a 105 minute piece of garbage.

Sure, the ape special effects were technically amazing but that was about it.  There was no need for all of the inconsequential sub-plots and story lines that were presented and it just came off as filler to justify a full length feature.
