An epic love story that checks in on 2 people on the same day each year for 20 or so years. Happy in parts, sad in others.

Immortals

A whole lot of Greek mythology wrapped up in a Hollywood movie.  The movie wasn’t as bloody as the trailers made it out to be but there was still enough gore to satisfy. The movie had a strange look to it – it reminded me of the old Jason and the Argonauts movie style – […]

A depressed high school student (Freddie Highmore)  makes friends with a very complicated girl (Emma Roberts) and they end up saving each other. Excellent movie, a little on the slow, sad side, but worth watching anyway.

Three friends have three horrible bosses and decide to kill each others – a la Strangers on a Train. It is a comedy of errors where nothing goes as planned but everybody gets what they want in the end.

Larry Crowne

Tom Hanks gets downsized from his  job, decides to go to college, has an inspirational effect on his younger classmates and falls in love with his professor. This is a solid movie, nothing exceptional but I’m still glad I saw it. It also made me want to buy a scooter.

The Thing (2011)

An update of the classic.  It stays true to the previous versions while adding some interesting elements to the story.  The special effects are excellent and take a more active role in the story telling. If you’re a fan of the previous incarnations of this movie you will love this one.

Mr. Popper’s Penguins

Jim Carey plays Mr Popper, a miserable, money loving real estate developer who has a terrible relationship with his ex-wife and kids.  He is willed some penguins when his father dies and eventually learns many life lessons and becomes a better person – typical children’s movie morals. The movie requires that you accept some of […]

Super 8

This movie is what you would get if The Goonies, Stand By Me, and E.T. had a Hollywood blockbuster love child. It’s a good movie if perhaps a little too ambitious.

Typically, they all […]
